May//June Summary

Apart from lockdown rules easing and the nation beginning to slowly open up again and return to some normality, I haven't really done much over the past 8 weeks. One hobby that I did take up was running, which I've been trying to stay consistent with although a short period of bad weather kind of put a temporary halt to it. There was two weeks of constant heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning but during that time I developed an interest in recording time lapses of the changing weather and trying to record some footage for a summer video that I'm working on, documenting my summer.

20th of May

This image was taken at a local reservoir in my area at around 7pm. Myself and my family did two laps of the reservoir before returning home for the day.

30th of May

These are my favourite images that were taken on the grounds around Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire, and on this specific day I think it was somewhere around 25ºC or 30ºC so it was quite hot, even at 4pm when we were there. Obviously, the weather being nice meant that there were hundreds of people out and about enjoying it.

13th of June

The weather at the start of June was nice, before it took a bit of a turn - there was a two week period of heavy rain and 'scattered thunderstorms' as the weather forecast presenters on the TV call it, maybe because of all of this humid weather. I had already started my summer video (you can see the first version of it here), but I was inspired by the thought of an image that I took on my phone a few years ago of rain droplets on the windscreen of my dad's car. The inspirational thought was to capture some b-roll style footage of the coming thunderstorm, and the droplets of water on my window. It was a really unique thunderstorm which started at around 7pm and by the time it was coming to an end at around 9-9:30pm, there was a really vibrant bright pink sky that was visible from the front/north facing side of our house. The videos below were filmed and taken on my iPhone and show how the weather in the day change from 14:30pm onwards......
