Our family made a last-minute decision (well, mainly myself and my mother) that we would go down to the Lavender Farm in Broadway, in Worcestershire/the Cotswolds. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit hit and miss - there was a huge dark and grey cloud looming over the Lavender Farm but anyways we still decided to jump out of the car. It wasn't quiet, but it wasn't busy and it was nice to see lots of families and friends/social bubbles (that was what I presumed and assumed they were) out and about. Another unfortunate thing is that my camera has a curved line that goes from the left to the right of my viewfinder so it affects how my photos turn out, so I didn't really use my camera much today. Our plan to tackle the lavender field was to do the outskirts and then come back through the lanes of lavender, which we did, and at the top there was also a small patch of bright yellow chamomile (my mother told me this) which was quite nice as it's a contrast to the sort of dark purple of the lavender! The weather also frighted and warmed up a little bit once we got to the top, which was nice.
After finishing up at the lavender farm, we drove over to the Broadway Tower which is another tourist attraction in the area. The land that the tower itself sits on is located on a steep hill above the small village of Broadway, and there was a stunning view of the surrounding areas beyond Broadway just a short walk through some fields through the tower. We did this circular walk that took us to the tower, and there were a lot of people and groups who were slightly more equipped than us to handle the steep looking walk down the hill into the local village, which we will probably do next time round so keep an eye out for that next blog post where we handle that!
Here are some of the photos that I took today, on my phone (I really wasn't having much luck today as my phone was running low on storage as I've seemed to have gathered up a lot of media on the Photos area of my phone so I had to make a few compromises).
SIDE NOTE:
I also want to keep on being 'photographically creative' over the summer - I'm still doing and trying to get footage for my summer video which is getting less personal and includes more general clips of places that I go to (I will post that later on towards the end of summer/before I return back to Leicester). I'm keen on challenging myself to doing something - I might try and do a 50 day mono-photography challenge using only a 50mm lens. I also want to shoot some film on my Nikon F50, either black and white or some expired coloured film. I do also have an old Pentax film camera that was given to me by a family friend a few years ago, so I'm going to get myself to learn how to use it by the end of August...
