18/07/2020 - Day out in Warwickshire

This is just a short summary of what I got up to on Saturday. We (myself and my household) met up with a good family friend of ours, who has a dog, and went on a super long walk together around Bearley, which is slightly outside of Stratford-Upon-Avon. The first part of the walk lead us through some woods - our friend said there used to be an RAF base (Snitterfield) with an airfield that was used during WWII (I looked it up properly after the walk and they had a training school for Belgian recruits). There were a couple of buildings around and I think there were at least two that we saw that must've been formerly in use as there were fairly run down, but the walls were still kind of intact. The fact that we were walking on land that was a base for WWII soldiers and RAF aircraft was quite impressive, and I kind of find it hard to imagine that there used to be a WHOLE RAF base in this forest that we were in. I also took some pictures of some trees (reason: the trunks had some really interesting textures on them and the roots were really fascinating (see the slideshow below)).

The second part of the walk after we came out of the woods was through a large field (pictures below) which would have been really nice if the weather was a bit better and more sunnier...we were imagining what it would be like at sunrise/sunset when we got to the top/more northern part of the field (our friend noted the Malvern Hills could be seen from around here and I think that is our next destination for a little family day trip). Walked through some more fields and took a wrong left turn in one of them to head back to our friend's home where we had left the car. SO we found a really narrow and small gap in the bushes (had a wilderness explorer moment and climbed over some branches and nettles but we survived with no scratches) which got us back onto an actual path.

Note: I didn't take my camera as I didn't actually know that we were going on this long walk so all of the photos and videos from Saturday were taken on my iPhone. They aren't the best pictures, they're more the type of pictures that I take on days out and leave them on my phone as a memory to look back on in the few months or years time)...plus they are also unedited!
